Summer Garden Flowers

After a stressful day at work, spending sometime in the garden can be a relaxing and relinquishing experience. If you plan to introduce some beautiful flowers in your garden, then you should take out some time to plan out and organize things accordingly. Summer is a time of beauty and abundance in the garden. In fact, it is a busy time for the gardener because a number of things have to be done to maintain the health and freshness of plants and flowers.

Here are some things that you should keep in mind planting a colorful flower garden.

  1. When choosing the right kind of flowers, you should decide the kind of look that you want to have in your garden. Many people like to mix different heights, varieties and colors of flowers for getting a charming meadow look whereas others might want to have a “stepping stone” look in their garden by planting short flowers in the front and tallest at the back.
  2. There is a general rule to the varieties of summer flowers that may be included in a summer garden. Geraniums are bright and colorful flowers that can be used for creating borders or colorful splashes amidst the greenery.  Hibiscus is another pretty flower which can give a tropical touch to a summer garden. Marigold is an all time favorite flower that grows well in the sunny spot of the garden and gives your garden a mesmerizing look.
  3. Sunflower, which represents the brightness of summer season, is considered as a primary summer flower. Sunflowers are huge, appealing and eye-catching and bloom in a very pleasant manner during the summer season. Aster is another flower that comes in beautiful shades of white, pink and purple and is capable of attracting differently colored flies in the garden. You can even add sweet Pea in your garden for getting a nice, sweet scent.
  4. Daisy, often known as the “market of summer” or “Day’s eye” is another pretty flower that catches the attention of everybody who visits your garden. This summer flower denotes innocence, gentleness and purity. The sensitizing effect of Lilies will never fail to lighten your mood or to make you smile.  Snapdragons make gorgeous cut flowers, so don’t forget to keep in them in hanging baskets as they can give a filling look to your garden.
  5. Gardeners find it very challenging to tackle shady areas of the garden. Impatiens and the brightly colored Viola are great choices for the shady areas. A beautiful color effect can be achieved by planting Lobelia or Ageratum, as they give stunning blue hues to the garden.

The above facts should be kept in mind in order to have a colorful and versatile summer garden.
